The Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law (RGSOIPL), Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, is organising the 8th Research Colloquium & Annual Research Scholars’ Day 2026 as part of IIT Kharagpur’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
About the Colloquium
The two-day academic programme will bring together research scholars, faculty members, legal practitioners, policymakers and members of the legal and technology communities to discuss contemporary questions at the intersection of law, technology and accountability.
Theme: “Navigating the Wild: Law, Technology, and the Architecture of Accountability”
Dates: October 30–31, 2026. Venue: Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur.
About the Call
RGSOIPL invites research scholars, faculty members and practitioners to submit extended abstracts on the central theme or any of the indicative sub-themes. The Colloquium will address the question of who should be accountable in a technology-driven and rapidly evolving environment, and the legal mechanisms through which accountability may be established.
Sub-Themes
- Algorithmic liability and technological accountability
- Data, privacy and surveillance architectures
- Artificial intelligence, platforms and emerging regulatory frameworks
- Intellectual property in the age of generative artificial intelligence
- Blockchain, biotechnology, synthetic biology and related emerging technologies
- Semiconductor law, supply chains and technological sovereignty
Submission Guidelines
Word limit: 500–800 words, including citations. Maximum authors: two. Review process: blind peer review. Submission format: Microsoft Word (.docx). Acceptance will be communicated within 48 hours of submission. Submissions are being accepted on a rolling basis, and early submission is encouraged.
Formatting Guidelines
Submissions must follow the latest edition of the OSCOLA citation style.
Awards
Best Paper Award and Best Presentation Award will be presented at the Colloquium.
Registration Details
Registration is open to students, research scholars, faculty members, industry participants, SAARC participants and non-SAARC participants. The registration fee for students and research scholars is Rs. 750, while the fee for faculty and industry participants is Rs. 1,500. Separate registration rates apply to SAARC and non-SAARC participants. Fees are exclusive of applicable taxes.
Certificates
Presenters will receive Certificates of Presentation and Participation. Registered participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
