About SVKM’s NMIMS Indore
SVKM’s NMIMS was established by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal in 1981 and has grown into a multidisciplinary deemed-to-be university. The Indore campus was established in 2017, and its School of Law was established in 2019. The competition brochure notes that NMIMS holds Category-I university status and an A++ grade accreditation from NAAC.
About Pragyan
Pragyan is the Research and Publication Committee of the School of Law, SVKM’s NMIMS Indore. Established in 2021, the committee supports student research and publication through scholarly activities, including legal blog competitions, conferences, webinars and research workshops.
About the Competition
The 1st National Blog Writing Competition 2026 is an inaugural initiative of the School of Law. It invites legal writing and research on the regulation, enforcement and societal impact of narcotics legislation in India, including the operation of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Theme
The theme is “Ink Against Narcotics: Perspectives on India’s Drug Laws.” Participants may examine statutory reform and the evolution of the NDPS Act; bail jurisprudence and constitutional liberties; rehabilitation frameworks and punitive measures; digital trafficking and transnational syndicates; procedural safeguards and law-enforcement accountability; decriminalisation and global drug-policy comparisons; or the socio-economic impacts of the narcotics crisis.
Eligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing studies at a recognised law college or university may participate.
- Entries may be submitted individually or in a team of no more than two members.
Prizes and Certificates
The brochure lists cash prizes and achievement certificates for the winners, along with participation certificates for all participants.
Important Dates
Registration and submission close on October 20, 2026. Results are scheduled to be released in the first week of November 2026.
Registration Fee
For a single-author entry, the fee is ₹400 for non-NMIMS participants and ₹300 for NMIMS students. For co-authored entries, the combined fee for both authors is ₹700 for non-NMIMS participants and ₹500 for NMIMS students.
Submission Guidelines
Submit the manuscript as a Microsoft Word .doc or .docx file, using Times New Roman at 12 points, 1.5 line spacing, justified alignment and one-inch margins. Hyperlinks are mandatory for citations and sources. The similarity index must not exceed 10%, and the manuscript must be anonymised for blind review: do not include author names, institutional affiliations or contact details.
