About the Opportunity
The Centre for Disability Law and Advocacy (CDLA) at National Law University Odisha is organising a two-day international conference titled “Law, Technology and Inclusive Futures: Rethinking Vulnerability in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation.” The conference will be held on September 26 and 27, 2026, in hybrid mode.
The conference will examine how artificial intelligence, digital technologies, automation and data-driven governance are affecting vulnerable and marginalised communities. It will address issues including digital exclusion, algorithmic discrimination, privacy, accessibility, accountability, human rights and equitable technology governance.
Researchers, academicians, students, scholars and professionals may submit papers addressing the conference’s thematic tracks. Both single and co-authored submissions are permitted, with a maximum of three authors.
Duration
The international conference will be conducted over two days, on September 26 and 27, 2026.
Mode
The conference will be conducted in hybrid mode. Paper presentations may be made online or offline.
Location
The offline conference will be held at National Law University Odisha, Cuttack, Odisha.

Topics include indigenous knowledge and intellectual property, technology for sustainable livelihoods, digital inclusion in remote and tribal regions, climate justice, forest rights, AI and language preservation, land rights, GIS, digital governance and community data governance.
Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights and Emerging Technologies
Topics include AI governance, human rights, algorithmic accountability, facial recognition, surveillance, digital constitutionalism, robotics, automation, labour rights, the gig economy, platform workers’ rights and the ethics of generative AI.
Technology, Health and Vulnerability
Topics include digital health governance, telemedicine, mental health technologies, AI in healthcare decision-making, digital surveillance during public health emergencies and health equity.
Cyber Law, Digital Rights and Inclusive Governance
Topics include data protection, privacy, cybercrime affecting vulnerable communities, digital identity and exclusion, e-governance, inclusive public services, cross-border digital regulation and legal reforms for an inclusive digital society.
Climate Change, Disaster Technology and Vulnerability
Topics include climate technologies, vulnerable communities, disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, disability-inclusive disaster management, indigenous knowledge, climate resilience, climate migration, digital governance, environmental justice and AI.
Access to Justice, Public Policy and Inclusive Innovation
Topics include legal technology and access to justice, technology for legal aid, inclusive innovation, human rights impact assessments of emerging technologies, community-led innovation, comparative technology regulation and law reform for vulnerable populations.
Eligibility Criteria
- Both single and co-authored submissions are permitted.
- A maximum of three authors is permitted for each submission.
- Authors must provide their name, designation, email address and contact number.
- The abstract must clearly indicate the sub-theme selected from the conference tracks.
- Upon acceptance of the abstract, authors will be required to submit the full paper.
Roles & Responsibilities
Abstract Submission
Authors are required to submit an abstract of 300–400 words containing a minimum of five keywords. The abstract must clearly identify the relevant sub-theme from the conference tracks.
Full Paper Submission
Authors whose abstracts are accepted must subsequently submit the full paper. The full paper must contain between 4,000 and 6,000 words, inclusive of references.
Paper Formatting
The full paper must follow the OSCOLA 5th edition referencing style. The body of the paper should use Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 line spacing, one-inch margins on all sides and justified alignment. Footnotes should use Times New Roman, 10-point font, single spacing and justified alignment.
Publication
Selected papers may be published in an edited book with an ISBN by a reputed publisher.
Registration Fees
NLUO students, Ph.D. scholars, faculty and staff will be charged Rs. 700 for online participation and Rs. 1,000 for offline participation.
Other students, research scholars, academicians and professionals will be charged Rs. 1,000 for online participation and Rs. 2,000 for offline participation.
International paper presenters will be charged US$30 for online participation and US$50 for offline participation. In the case of co-authors, both authors must register and pay separately.
The offline registration fee includes conference kits, lunch and refreshments for both days of the conference. Travel and accommodation expenses are not included in the registration fee.
Deadline
The deadline for submission of abstracts is September 3, 2026.
The communication of acceptance is scheduled for September 5, 2026. The deadline for registration, along with payment of registration fees, is September 7, 2026.
The deadline for submission of a working paper for consideration for the best paper award is September 24, 2026, while the deadline for submission of the full paper for publication is October 30, 2026.

Interested authors may submit their abstracts through the abstract submission form.
Authors should ensure that their abstract is 300–400 words, contains at least five keywords and identifies the relevant conference sub-theme. The author’s name, designation, email address and contact number must also be provided.
