The DPIIT Chair on Intellectual Property Rights at National Law School of India University is engaged in advanced research, policy development, and academic initiatives relating to intellectual property law and governance. The Chair works on interdisciplinary projects addressing contemporary developments in innovation policy, copyright, patents, trademarks, and emerging regulatory frameworks impacting intellectual property systems in India and globally.
Research Assistants working under the Chair contribute to empirical and doctrinal research projects, assist in policy-oriented studies, and support academic publications aligned with the objectives of strengthening intellectual property scholarship and regulatory understanding.
The position provides structured exposure to institutional research environments and offers opportunities to work closely with the IPR Chair Professor on ongoing academic and policy initiatives.
About the Research Assistant Position
Selected candidates will work under the supervision of the IPR Chair Professor and contribute to research assignments involving intellectual property law and policy. The role includes assistance in empirical investigations, preparation of research materials, and participation in interdisciplinary academic projects connected with intellectual property frameworks.
Research Assistants may also be involved in documentation support, literature reviews, field-based research coordination, and quantitative data analysis related to institutional research outputs undertaken by the Chair.
The position is suitable for candidates interested in developing academic research careers or strengthening policy research exposure in intellectual property law.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with academic, research, or industry experience in the field of intellectual property law are encouraged to apply. Applicants demonstrating interest in empirical investigations, prior fieldwork experience, and familiarity with quantitative data analysis methods will be preferred.
Applicants should be capable of undertaking independent research assignments and contributing to structured academic research outputs within an institutional environment.
Compensation
The selected Research Assistants will receive a monthly compensation ranging between Rs 47,000 and Rs 67,000 depending on educational qualifications and relevant experience.
Reporting Structure
The Research Assistants will work under the supervision of and report directly to the IPR Chair Professor at National Law School of India University.
