North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, is a central university located in Meghalaya. Its Department of Law is organising the 3rd North-Eastern Hill University National Moot Court Competition 2026 for law students from across India.

The competition is being conducted with the support and guidance of the faculty of the Department of Law and will include virtual preliminary rounds followed by physical rounds at the NEHU campus in Shillong.

About the Opportunity

The 3rd North-Eastern Hill University National Moot Court Competition 2026 provides an opportunity for eligible law students to participate in a national-level moot court competition.

The competition will involve the preparation and submission of memorials, followed by preliminary rounds in virtual mode. The Octa Final, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final rounds will be conducted in physical mode at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong.

Registration

The registration fee is β‚Ή1,500 per team.

The registration form was released on July 28, 2026.

Mode

The competition will be conducted in hybrid mode. The preliminary rounds will be held virtually, while the advanced rounds will take place in physical mode at NEHU.

Location

The physical rounds will be conducted at the Department of Law, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya.

Timeline

Registration will remain open from July 28, 2026, to August 28, 2026.

The online memorial submission is scheduled for September 15, 2026.

The preliminary rounds in virtual mode will be conducted from September 29 to September 30, 2026.

The Octa Final, Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final rounds in physical mode will be held from October 29 to October 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students pursuing a 3-Year LL.B. programme are eligible to participate.
  • Students pursuing a 5-Year LL.B. programme are eligible to participate.
  • Students pursuing an LL.M. programme are eligible to participate.
  • Each team must consist of two or three members.
  • A maximum of 36 teams will be permitted to participate.

Perks

Complimentary meals and accommodation will be provided for the physical rounds.

All participants will receive a 10% scholarship code for courses offered by Lawctopus Law School.

Prize Pool

The winner will receive a cash prize of β‚Ή50,000.

The first runner-up will receive β‚Ή25,000.

The Best Advocate will receive β‚Ή11,000.

The Best Memorial award carries a prize of β‚Ή11,000.

The Best Researcher will receive β‚Ή8,000.
