The School of Electoral Law is part of the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi. The programme is intended to strengthen academic engagement, research, and knowledge development in democracy and election management.
About the Opportunity
The Law Internship Programme offers undergraduate and postgraduate students an opportunity to engage with the legal and institutional foundations of India’s electoral democracy through structured research and academic learning.
Participants will contribute to research on Election Law, Constitutional Law, and Democratic Governance. The programme will also provide practical exposure to comparative electoral practices, legal frameworks governing electoral democracies, policy review, legal research, and the development of training manuals and educational resources under academic supervision.
Duration
The internship will be for 4–6 weeks, tentatively during October, November, or December 2026.
Mode
The internship will be conducted in on-site mode.
Location
The internship will be based at the IIIDEM Campus, New Delhi.
Stipend
The intern will receive a stipend of ₹8,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate students in Law.
- Postgraduate students in Law, Public Policy, and related disciplines.
- Students with a demonstrated interest in Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Election Law, Public Policy, or Legal Research.
Roles & Responsibilities
Legal Research and Drafting
- Contributing to research on Election Law, Constitutional Law, and Democratic Governance.
- Reviewing thematic legal research reports on comparative electoral practices.
- Conducting legal research and policy review.
- Assisting in the development of training manuals and educational resources.
Research and Analysis
- Studying legal frameworks governing electoral democracies.
- Engaging with the legal and institutional foundations of India’s electoral democracy under academic supervision.
