IIMT Delhi is organising the Rakesh Aggarwal Memorial Debate Competition 2026 on September 22-23, with the last date of registration being September 21.
About the Organiser
Ideal Institute of Management and Technology (IIMT), Delhi, was established in 1999 under the auspices of the New Millennium Education Society. The Institute is affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, and its professional courses in Law and Business Administration are recognised by the Bar Council of India and the Government of NCT of Delhi.
IIMT is a NAAC-accredited institution committed to quality education, academic excellence, professional integrity, and market-oriented skills. Its School of Law focuses on clinical legal education through legal aid clinics, moot court competitions, internships, and live client counselling.
About the Competition
The Rakesh Aggarwal Memorial Debate Competition is organised in memory of Late Shri Rakesh Aggarwal, Chairman and Founder of Ideal Institute of Management and Technology. The competition aims to promote critical thinking, effective communication, research, and appreciation of diverse perspectives through debate on contemporary issues of law and society.
Motion
“Public Safety Justifies Mass Facial Recognition Surveillance by the State.”
Participants shall debate the motion by presenting arguments for and against the proposition.
Debate Format
The debate shall follow the Lincoln-Douglas model, with certain modifications. Each participant shall be allotted a maximum of five minutes, comprising four minutes for constructive speech and one minute for rebuttal.
Participants may choose either English or Hindi as the medium of the debate. Once selected, the language cannot be changed during the competition.
Eligibility Criteria
- The competition is open to all students enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programmes worldwide.
- Each team shall comprise two participants.
- One participant from each team shall speak for the motion and the other shall speak against the motion.
Prizes
- Best Speaker: ₹5,100.
- Runner-Up Speaker: ₹3,100.
- 2nd Runner-Up Speaker: ₹2,100.
- Winning Team: ₹5,100.
- Runner-Up Team: ₹3,100.
Certificates of Appreciation and Participation will be awarded to participants.
Registration Fee
The registration fee is ₹2,000 per team, and the attendee fee is ₹500 per attendee. The registration fee must be paid through the prescribed online payment link, and participants must attach the payment receipt with the online registration form.

The last date of registration is September 21, 2026, and the competition will be held on September 22-23, 2026, from 10:00 AM onwards.

Application Procedure
Interested participants may complete the online registration form and pay the registration fee of ₹2,000 per team through the prescribed payment link. Participants must retain the payment confirmation and attach the payment receipt with the registration form.
