About the Organisation
ICFAI Law School Dehradun operates under the ICFAI University Dehradun and is engaged in delivering legal education through a combination of academic coursework, research initiatives, and practical training platforms. The institution regularly conducts skill-based competitions and academic events to strengthen advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution abilities among law students.
The Centre for Excellence in Alternative Dispute Resolution Law plays a key role in promoting mediation, arbitration, negotiation, and client counselling training through structured competitions, workshops, and research-oriented initiatives. Its activities are designed to familiarise students with evolving dispute resolution practices that are increasingly relevant in contemporary legal systems.
About the Competition
The 3rd ICFAI National Mediation Competition 2026 aims to promote awareness and practical understanding of mediation as an important dispute resolution mechanism within the legal profession. The competition provides participants with structured exposure to negotiation strategy, settlement frameworks, and communication techniques used in mediation proceedings.
Participants will simulate mediation sessions by performing the roles of mediator, counsel, and client. Through these simulations, students develop problem-solving approaches, persuasion skills, and structured negotiation strategies that are essential for dispute resolution practice.
The competition is designed to strengthen both advocacy skills and collaborative settlement techniques, making it relevant for students interested in litigation, arbitration, corporate advisory, and policy negotiation roles.
Mode of Competition
This competition will be conducted in online mode through structured mediation simulation rounds.
Dates of Competition
The competition will be held on 18 April 2026 and 19 April 2026.
Team Composition
Each participating team must consist of three members performing the following roles:
- Mediator
- Client
- Counsel
Teams are expected to prepare collectively for mediation sessions and demonstrate coordination during simulated proceedings.

Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to students enrolled in recognised law institutions under:
- 3-year LL.B. programme
- 5-year integrated law programme
Participants must be studying in institutions recognised by the Bar Council of India.
Registration Fee
The registration fee for participation is ₹1500 per team.
Awards and Recognition
Winning teams and participants will receive cash prizes and certificates of merit. Certificates of participation will also be issued to eligible participants who complete the competition rounds.
Participation in mediation competitions is often considered beneficial for students preparing for ADR practice, negotiation competitions, and client counselling events.
