FSSAI offers internships of up to three months across legal, regulatory, food safety, policy and other domains at its offices and laboratories.
About FSSAI
FSSAI is a statutory body established under the Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006, under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. It is the apex body responsible for ensuring food safety and compliance with food standards across the country.
About the Opportunity
The FSSAI Internship Program provides students with learning opportunities in various areas of food regulation and food safety administration.
Interns will be attached to one of the divisions at FSSAI Headquarters, Regional Offices or laboratories, depending on their academic and technical training. They will be assigned projects relating to different aspects of Food and Nutrition Management Processes.
Tenure
The internship is available throughout the year on a quarterly basis. The internship will be offered for a duration of up to 3 months and may be extended to a maximum period of 6 months.
No internship of less than 2 months will be offered.

FSSAI Headquarters, New Delhi
Internship opportunities are available in Science & Standards, Regulation, Regulatory Compliance, KRCDC (Library), Human Resource, Finance & Accounts, Trade and International Cooperation/Imports, Quality Assurance, Legal and IT.
Regional Offices, Chennai & Kolkata
Interns may work on Food Imports Clearance and Licensing.
National Food Laboratories, Ghaziabad, Kolkata & Chennai
Internship opportunities are available in Food Sampling and Testing.
NFL Kolkata Extension Centre, Raxaul
Interns may be assigned work relating to Food Sampling and Testing.
Stipend
Deserving interns will receive a stipend of ₹10,000 for the internship period on the recommendation of the Office or Division to which they are attached by the respective FSSAI Headquarters, Regional Office or Laboratory.
The criteria for deserving interns will be based on attendance, assessment by their respective reporting officers and evaluation of the report by the Committee.
Benefits
Working Space
FSSAI will provide working space, internet facilities and other necessities.
Interns are required to have their own laptops. FSSAI will not cover local lodging, travel or boarding expenses.
Certificate
Interns who successfully complete the internship will receive a certificate from the Human Resource Division, FSSAI Headquarters.
The certificate will be awarded following submission and review of the final report or presentation and recommendation by the Project Evaluation Committee.
Eligibility Criteria
Students pursuing a full-time Graduate, Post Graduate or higher degree from a recognized institute in India or abroad in the following fields are eligible:
- Bachelor/Master of Law, only for FSSAI Headquarters.
Students who have completed the above-mentioned courses need not apply.
Roles & Responsibilities
Legal & Regulatory Work
Law interns at FSSAI Headquarters may be assigned work relating to the Legal domain, along with projects concerning food regulation and regulatory compliance.
Research & Project Work
Interns will work on assigned projects related to different aspects of Food and Nutrition Management Processes, according to their academic and technical training.
Food Safety & Administration
Depending on the selected location and domain, interns may be involved in areas including food imports clearance and licensing, food sampling and testing, science and standards, quality assurance and other food safety-related functions.

Application Procedure
Interested and eligible students may apply online through the FSSAI Internship Scheme application process.
Applicants must complete the online application form, fill in all mandatory fields and upload the required documents in the specified file type and size.
After reviewing all questions carefully, applicants must submit the form and note down their Application ID for future reference. Applicants may also view or print the form after final submission.
The final list of selected candidates, along with the date of joining and internship tenure, will be declared online on the FSSAI website by the respective office where the candidate has opted for the internship.
