About Centre for Gender Studies
The Centre for Gender Studies at National Law University, Jodhpur examines gender through interdisciplinary and comparative research. Its work addresses gender, sexuality and power across legal, social and cultural contexts. The Centre organises academic events, including seminars, workshops and panel discussions, and undertakes initiatives such as reading circles, blog writing and discussions of contemporary issues.
About the Competition
The Centre for Gender Studies is organising the NLUJ-CGS Blog Writing Competition on Gender and Law, 2026. Lawctopus and Lawctopus Law School are the Media and Knowledge Partners. The competition invites participants to examine how gender interacts with law, society, culture, representation and digital spaces.
Entries should engage with contemporary questions through accessible, informed discussion. The competition covers three broad themes, allowing authors to explore both legal questions and their wider interdisciplinary context.
Themes
- Feminism, Consumerism and Digital Culture: suggested topics include brand feminism, performative activism, beauty standards, influencer culture, gendered pricing and the commercialisation of empowerment.
- Culture, Media, Art and Representation: suggested areas include gender in cinema, LGBTQ+ representation, objectification, feminist and queer art, and women’s place in cultural memory.
- Society, Social Conditioning and Gender Norms: suggested topics include early socialisation, marriage expectations, household gender roles, identity formation and generational shifts in attitudes.
Eligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students.
- Academicians, scholars, practitioners, consultants, researchers and policymakers.
- Participants from law, social sciences, liberal arts, humanities, public policy, media, management and other backgrounds.
More than one entrant may participate from the same university. Entries may be individually authored or co-authored by up to two people. Co-authors may belong to different universities.
Submission Guidelines
- Each blog must contain 1,200–1,500 words.
- Use Times New Roman, 12-point font and 1.5-line spacing for the main text.
- Submit in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
- Embed hyperlinks in the body for supporting material and legal sources. Use endnotes only when a hyperlink is unavailable.
- The brochure prescribes a 20% AI limit and a 10% plagiarism limit.
Registration Fees
- Single-author entry: ₹200.
- Co-authored entry with a maximum of two authors: ₹300.
Payment must be made before completing the registration form. Filling in the form is mandatory to complete registration.
Prizes and Publication
- Winner: ₹8,000.
- Runner-up: ₹5,000.
- Second runner-up: ₹2,000.
The top five selected blogs will be published as the inaugural entries on the new Centre for Gender Studies website. Its launch is tentatively planned for December 2026.

Pay the applicable registration fee through the university’s payment portal below, then complete the registration form by October 30, 2026. The form requires Google sign-in. Prepare your blog in accordance with the brochure’s word limit, formatting and citation rules. The submission deadline is November 10, 2026.
