CCADR CNLU Patna invites registrations for its 1st Arbitral Award Writing and Presentation Competition 2026-27.

About CCADR CNLU Patna

Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, was established under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006. The University is recognised under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, and focuses on legal education, research, legal awareness and the rule of law.

The Chanakya Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CCADR) was established at CNLU in 2021. The Centre works towards academic research, practical skill-building and professional engagement in alternative dispute resolution. It organises ADR competitions, panel discussions, workshops, training sessions and lectures.

About the Competition

CCADR CNLU Patna is organising its 1st Arbitral Award Writing and Presentation Competition 2026-27. The competition will primarily focus on construction arbitration and will require participants to engage with disputes involving delay claims, variations, defects, payment disputes and contractual interpretation. It is a construction arbitration competition designed to develop participants’ understanding of substantive and procedural law, evidentiary assessment, construction industry standards, legal drafting and impartial decision-making in arbitral proceedings.

Competition Structure

The competition will be conducted in hybrid mode. Participants will prepare and submit an arbitral award, after which the top eight teams will present their awards in offline mode at CNLU. Individual participation and participation in teams of two through co-authorship are permitted.

Theme and Problem Statement

The competition is based on construction arbitration. The Arbitral Award Presentation stage will require shortlisted participants to present their written awards in accordance with the competition requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

• Students pursuing a five-year or three-year LL.B. programme.
• Students pursuing a one-year or two-year LL.M. programme.
• Students pursuing any other undergraduate or postgraduate law degree from a recognised university.

Submission Guidelines

Participants must submit their final awards in both .doc/.docx and PDF formats. Submissions are to be made through the Google Form provided by the organisers.

Important Dates

• Release of Brochure and Rulebook: October 18, 2026.
• Tentative release of the problem: November 15, 2026.
• Last date for registration: December 2, 2026.
• Last date for submission of the final award: December 15, 2026.
• Release of results for advanced rounds: January 15, 2027.
• Offline presentation dates: February 13-14, 2027.

Mode

The competition will be conducted in hybrid mode. The top eight teams will present their awards offline at CNLU.
