The Central Bureau of Investigation has invited applications from eligible advocates for engagement as Special Public Prosecutors to conduct trials of Lokpal-referred cases before Special CBI Courts.
The engagement is being undertaken for Special CBI Courts situated in Lucknow, Jabalpur, Ghaziabad and Coimbatore.
About the Opportunity
The CBI is inviting applications from advocates for engagement as Special Public Prosecutors for Lokpal-referred cases. Four notifications have been issued by the CBI Policy Division for the respective locations.
Selected advocates will be engaged for a minimum period of three years and will be required to conduct trials before the concerned Special CBI Courts.
Candidates selected for engagement will be required to remain stationed at the place where the concerned Special CBI Court is situated. No travelling allowance or reimbursement of travel expenses will be provided for attending court proceedings.
The professional fees payable to the engaged advocates will be governed by the terms and conditions contained in Department of Personnel and Training File No. 225/19/2023-AVD-II dated April 8, 2024.

The CBI has issued separate notifications for Special Public Prosecutor engagement in Lucknow, Jabalpur, Ghaziabad and Coimbatore.

The selected advocates will be engaged for a minimum period of three years.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must hold an LL.B. degree.
- Applicants must possess a valid enrolment certificate as an advocate with a Bar Council.
- Candidates must have a minimum standing of 10 years at the Bar.
- Applicants must have experience in handling criminal matters before Sessions Courts.
- Experience in conducting trials under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 is mandatory.
- Applicants must provide details of important criminal cases handled by them.
- Applicants must furnish unconditional consent to work under the general terms and conditions approved by the Union Government from time to time.
Roles & Responsibilities
Litigation Support
- Conduct trials of Lokpal-referred cases before the concerned Special CBI Courts.
- Handle criminal matters before the Sessions Courts in accordance with the requirements of the engagement.
- Conduct trials under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Case Management
The prescribed application proforma requires applicants to provide information regarding important criminal cases handled by them and trials conducted under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Applicants must also provide details concerning their appearances on behalf of the CBI, Central and State Government ministries, departments or organisations, significant cases in which they achieved success, existing workload and engagement as a panel lawyer, standing counsel or legal adviser to any government body.

Application Procedure
Interested advocates are required to submit their applications online in the prescribed format.
The application must be accompanied by documents relating to:
- Educational qualifications.
- Bar Council enrolment.
- Experience in criminal matters before Sessions Courts.
- Willingness to accept the applicable government terms and conditions.
- Important cases handled.
- Trials conducted under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Applicants should ensure that the application is complete and submitted within the prescribed period. Incomplete applications, offline applications and applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Only shortlisted candidates will be called by the CBI for an interaction.
