The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited online applications for the recruitment of Assistant Public Prosecutors (APP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Eligible law graduates can apply online by July 3, 2026.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is India’s premier investigating agency functioning under the Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India. It investigates corruption, economic offences, special crimes, and other cases of national importance, while assisting in prosecution through its legal officers.

About the Opportunity

UPSC is conducting recruitment for the post of Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation. Selected candidates will represent the CBI in criminal prosecutions, conduct trials before competent courts, examine witnesses, draft legal opinions, and assist investigating officers in prosecution-related matters.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B.) from a recognised university.
  • Meet the experience requirements prescribed in the official UPSC notification.
  • Fulfil the age criteria notified by UPSC (age relaxation applicable as per Government rules).

Selection Process

Selection may include:

  • Shortlisting of applications
  • Recruitment Test (if conducted)
  • Interview by UPSC

Salary

Selected candidates will receive salary and allowances as per the pay level prescribed for the post of Assistant Public Prosecutor under the Central Government.
