The Indian Journal of Constitutional Law (IJCL), published by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, is inviting submissions for its forthcoming issues and special thematic issue for Volume XIV (2026). The journal seeks original and well-researched contributions engaging with constitutional law, comparative constitutionalism, and related interdisciplinary themes.
About the Journal
The Indian Journal of Constitutional Law (IJCL) is a flagship, student-edited, peer-reviewed law journal published annually by NALSAR University of Law. The journal functions under the aegis of the MK Nambyar SAARCLAW Chair in Comparative Constitutional Studies in cooperation with the Constitutional Law Society at NALSAR.
IJCL focuses on scholarship relating to core and comparative constitutional law and has previously published contributions from leading constitutional scholars, practitioners, judges, and academics. The journal aims to encourage rigorous constitutional scholarship addressing doctrinal, comparative, critical, and interdisciplinary questions within public law.
The journal’s previous volumes have featured writings by prominent scholars including Prof. Upendra Baxi, Prof. Gary Jacobsohn, Justice Michael Kirby, Soli Sorabjee, Arvind Datar, and other distinguished constitutional law academics and practitioners.
About the Call for Papers
IJCL is currently accepting submissions for its Fourteenth Volume scheduled for publication in 2026, along with a Special Issue titled “Dignity: Promise and Practice.” The special issue builds upon discussions initiated during the National Conference on Dignity Law held at NALSAR University of Law in July 2025.
The journal invites submissions engaging with constitutional law from doctrinal, comparative, philosophical, institutional, and interdisciplinary perspectives. Contributors are encouraged to examine themes relating to constitutional values, rights adjudication, governance structures, judicial review, institutional accountability, dignity jurisprudence, equality, privacy, and related public law developments.
Submissions may include scholarly articles, essays, comments, case notes, legislative analyses, and reviews addressing contemporary constitutional law issues. The journal particularly encourages contributions adopting critical, comparative, and intersectional approaches to constitutional scholarship.
All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts are subject to a peer-review and editorial review process conducted by the journal.
Eligibility Criteria
The call for papers is open to academicians, practitioners, researchers, and students interested in constitutional law and comparative constitutional studies.
Theme of the Special Issue
The Special Issue for Volume XIV focuses on “Dignity: Promise and Practice.” The issue seeks to examine dignity as a constitutional value and its practical implications across institutions, governance systems, rights adjudication, and lived constitutional realities. Contributions exploring the philosophical foundations, doctrinal development, comparative dimensions, and institutional manifestations of dignity are particularly encouraged.
Important Date / Deadline
The last date to submit manuscripts for consideration in Volume XIV and the Special Issue is May 31, 2026.
