About the Centre for Advanced Studies in Labour Welfare

The Centre for Advanced Studies in Labour Welfare (CASLW) was established at RGNUL to strengthen the labour justice system in India and advance the welfare, rights and dignity of workers and their families. The Centre undertakes research, academic engagement and awareness initiatives concerning labour welfare, worker empowerment and contemporary developments affecting labour rights and workplace regulation.

About Labour & Liberty Blog

Labour & Liberty is the dedicated publication platform of CASLW. It seeks to encourage informed discussion on emerging questions of labour and employment law and their wider social, economic and regulatory dimensions. The blog particularly encourages analytical pieces that critically engage with developing legislation, judicial decisions, regulatory policy and changes in the nature of work, rather than merely describing the law.

About the Call

CASLW, RGNUL invites submissions for the Labour & Liberty Blog from students, academics, practitioners and researchers. The blog seeks contemporary, analytical and interdisciplinary scholarship on labour, employment and workplace regulation.

Theme

Submissions are invited broadly within the fields of labour law, employment law and service law. Connected interdisciplinary areas include labour codes and industrial relations; wages, working conditions and social security; gig, platform and informal-sector workers; workplace equality, discrimination and gender justice; migrant and contract labour; occupational safety and worker welfare; artificial intelligence, automation and the future of work; employee privacy and workplace surveillance; trade unions and collective bargaining; child and bonded labour; labour-law compliance and enforcement; comparative and international labour law; and contemporary judicial and regulatory developments affecting employment and workers’ rights.

The listed areas are illustrative and not exhaustive, and submissions within the broader domain of labour, employment, service law or labour welfare are welcome.

Submission Categories

Submissions are invited in the form of blog posts. Single-author and co-authored submissions are accepted, with a maximum of two authors. The title of the manuscript should indicate the sub-theme selected by the author.

Eligibility

  • Students, academicians, legal practitioners, researchers, HR professionals and other persons interested in labour and employment law may submit.
  • Co-authorship is permitted for a maximum of two authors, who may belong to the same or different institutions.

Submission Guidelines

The manuscript must be original and unpublished. Cross-publication is not permitted, and submissions containing plagiarism will be rejected. The manuscript must not contain the name, institutional affiliation or any other identifying information of the author or authors. Submissions should preferably advance an argument or critical analysis rather than merely reproduce or summarise existing law. The author or authors will be solely responsible for the accuracy of the facts, opinions and views stated in the manuscript. Copyright in published submissions shall vest with CASLW-RGNUL, while all moral rights shall remain with the author or authors.

Formatting Guidelines

The submission should be between 1,200 and 1,500 words, and the blog may accept submissions of up to 1,800 words depending on the quality of the submission. The body of the manuscript should be in Times New Roman, font size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and justified alignment. References to sources available online should ordinarily be incorporated through in-text hyperlinks. Where the relevant source is unavailable online, endnotes may be used in Times New Roman, font size 10, single-spaced, following OSCOLA 4th Edition.
