INTA invites law students to its 2027 Asia-Pacific Moot Court Competition in New Delhi. Register by November 15, 2026.
About INTA
The International Trademark Association (INTA) is a global, non-profit association of brand owners and intellectual property professionals. Founded in 1878, it supports trademark and related rights through advocacy, education, professional events and research resources.
About the Competition
Established in 2017, the Asia-Pacific Moot Court Competition develops brief-writing and oral advocacy skills through a fictional dispute involving international trademark and unfair competition law. Teams submit a written brief and, if selected, argue before volunteer attorneys and judges.
Mode and Venue
The English-language oral rounds take place in person on February 12–13, 2027, at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi–110003.
Eligibility and Team Composition
- Each team consists of two to four students from the same law school or qualifying higher-education institution.
- The programme must lead to eligibility for admission to legal practice. Full-time and part-time students may participate.
- Only one team per school is permitted; separate schools within one university may each register a team.
- Team members must not already hold a law degree or be licensed to practise. Joint undergraduate/LL.M. students and LL.M. students without a prior law degree may enter.
Competition Structure
Twenty briefs will qualify for oral arguments. Each team argues both sides in two preliminary rounds on February 12. The top eight advance to quarter-finals on February 13, followed by semi-finals and the final. Two members argue in each round.
Moot Proposition
The fictional dispute between Zenith Sports Beverages Ltd. and Grovemark Beverages Bhd. concerns beverage trademarks and bottle trade dress, including functionality and well-known-mark protection. Use the complete official problem and annexures for the facts and appellate issues.
Registration Fee and Expenses
There is no entry fee. Teams pay their own travel and accommodation expenses.
Brief Submission Guidelines
- Prepare a PDF for the assigned side, using the team number as its filename and on its cover. Do not disclose participant or institutional identities.
- Arguments and conclusion are limited to 25 double-spaced pages, excluding prescribed preliminary sections and appendices. Use one-inch margins, an approved font and the latest Bluebook citation format.
- Outside assistance, including AI assistance, is prohibited during brief preparation. Faculty critiques and practice arguments are permitted only after submission.
