About Data Security Council of India

Data Security Council of India (DSCI), set up by NASSCOM, is a not-for-profit industry body and think tank working on data protection, cybersecurity and critical technologies in India. DSCI works to make cyberspace safe, secure and privacy-assured through policy advocacy, thought leadership, capacity building and outreach. It engages with government, regulators, defence and law-enforcement agencies, industry members and academia.

About the Policy Internship

DSCI is inviting applications for a Policy Intern to join its Policy Team. The internship contributes to research and policy initiatives at the intersection of technology, regulation and emerging technologies. It is a paid policy internship and is hybrid, with Noida as the base location. Candidates exploring legal internship opportunities in India may also be eligible if they meet the stated degree requirements; the role is designed for policy, STEM, technology-law and law students.

Internship Duration

The internship is for three months, with a possibility of extension up to six months based on performance and organisational requirements.

Mode and Location

The internship is hybrid, with a base location in Noida. The role may suit candidates seeking a virtual legal internship in India while remaining available for the hybrid arrangement based in Noida.

Expected Start Date

The expected start date is October or November 2026. Applicants should be available to commence during either month.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conduct policy and regulatory research on AI governance, AI trust and safety, data governance, internet governance and digital public infrastructure.
  • Research FinTech and emerging and frontier technologies.
  • Support ongoing projects and engagements through research, analysis and documentation.
  • Contribute to stakeholder interactions and other activities aligned with the Policy Team’s priorities.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Final-year students pursuing a master’s degree or diploma in Public Policy, STEM or Technology Law.
  • Fourth- or fifth-year students pursuing a five-year law degree; specialisation in Technology Law and/or AI Law is preferred.
  • Applicants must be available to start in October or November 2026.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated interest in digital and technology policy.
  • Full professional proficiency in English.
  • Familiarity with global technology-policy issues and how technology is applied across sectors.
  • Strong research, writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and interest in learning about emerging technologies and their technical and policy implications.

Selection Process

Candidates whose profiles are shortlisted will be contacted by the DSCI HR Team about the next steps. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a virtual interview, which may be followed by a short assignment assessing research, analytical and written communication abilities.
