S. Thangapazham Law College invites entries for LEX VIRIDIS DIGITALIS, its national online memorial drafting competition.

About S. Thangapazham Law College

S. Thangapazham Law College is located in Vasudevanallur, Tenkasi District, Tamil Nadu. Established in 2022–23 under the Thiru K. Subramania Nadar–Vadivoo Ammal Educational Trust, it is approved by the Bar Council of India and affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai.

The college combines classroom learning with moot courts, internships, court visits and legal awareness programmes. Its academic activities emphasise legal research, practical training and advocacy.

About the Competition

S. Thangapazham Law College is organising LEX VIRIDIS DIGITALIS 2K26, its 1st National Online Memorial Drafting Competition. Participants will prepare written pleadings addressing a hypothetical dispute, with assessment focused on legal knowledge, jurisdiction, research, interpretation, organisation and drafting.

Mode and Language

The competition will be conducted online. All submissions must be in English.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students enrolled in a recognised three-year or five-year law degree programme may participate.
  • Entries may be submitted individually or by teams of two eligible students.
  • There is no limit on entries from a single institution. Teams may include students from different institutions.

Moot Proposition

The fictional dispute concerns a cyber intrusion into a dam’s control system and resulting flooding and landslides. It raises issues concerning constitutional jurisdiction, cyber terrorism, criminal intent, the defence of necessity, sentencing, State and corporate liability, and compensation for damage across state boundaries. The complete proposition is included in the brochure.

Registration Fee

  • Individual participant: ₹250.
  • Team of two: ₹400.
  • Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Memorial Submission Guidelines

  • Follow the brochure’s requirement to prepare the memorial on behalf of both the Petitioner/Appellant and the Respondent.
  • Submit Word and PDF versions together in one email per team. Use only the team code in filenames and the subject “Team Code – Submission of Memorial”.
  • Use A4 pages, justified Times New Roman 12-point body text, 1.5-line spacing and one-inch margins. Footnotes must be 10-point, single-spaced and justified. Follow Bluebook 20th edition citations.
  • The memorial limit is 40 pages; Arguments Advanced must not exceed 25 pages. Use blue petitioner and red respondent cover pages, with the team code in the upper-right corner.
  • Participant-identifying information leads to disqualification. The brochure requires plagiarism and AI detection scores below 10%. Late submissions are not accepted.
  • Read the brochure for required sections, cover details, evaluation criteria and penalties.

Awards and Benefits

  • Winner: ₹10,000 and a Certificate of Merit.
  • First runner-up: ₹7,000 and a Certificate of Merit.
  • Second runner-up: ₹5,000 and a Certificate of Merit.
  • All participants receive a Certificate of Participation. Certificates will be issued digitally by email.

  • Registration opens: 25 September 2026.
  • Registration deadline: 21 October 2026, 11:59 PM.
  • Clarification request deadline: 24 October 2026, 5:00 PM.
  • Memorial submission deadline: 28 October 2026, 11:59 PM.
  • Results announcement: 4 November 2026.

Application Procedure

Pay the applicable fee using the payment details in the brochure, then upload a payment screenshot in the official registration form by 21 October 2026 at 11:59 PM. The form requires Google sign-in.

Email the memorial in Word and PDF formats to stlcmootevents@gmail.com by 28 October 2026 at 11:59 PM. The organisers will acknowledge receipt by reply. Participants should check their email for updates.
