About Samaira Policy Research Institute
Samaira Policy Research Institute is an independent, non-partisan public policy center based in Dehradun. The institute works exclusively with India’s rural and urban local bodies, empowering them through evidence-based research, grassroots training and participatory policy education. SPRI blends academic thinking with real-world immersion, and its programmes combine classroom seminars with fieldwork at the Panchayat level.
About the Fellowship
The Samaira Policy Research Institute invites applications for the SPRI MLA Fellowship – J&K 2026-27, an independent public policy and legislative affairs fellowship combining foundational training with 12 months of legislative placement with Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The fellowship is built on the idea of ‘building capacity for informed, research-driven legislative engagement’.
Foundational Training
The fellowship begins with one month of foundational training from 22 October 2026. During the training period, fellows will receive a stipend of ₹5,000 per month, and accommodation and food will be provided.
Legislative Placement
Following the training, fellows will undertake a 12-month legislative placement with an MLA of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, with a stipend of ₹20,200 per month.
Number of Positions
Ten fellows will be selected for the legislative placement.
Eligibility Criteria
- Graduates from across India holding a completed undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree, with the final result declared on or before 7 October 2026.
- For integrated programmes, the programme must be completed in full.
- At least 85% in Class XII.
- Availability full-time from 22 October 2026 for the training and the subsequent 12-month legislative placement.
Application Fee
There is no application fee at any stage of the selection process.
