The University of Toronto is accepting applications for the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship 2027 for undergraduate study.

About University of Toronto

The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship is the most prestigious award for international students at the University of Toronto. It is one of the largest scholarship programs for international students in Canada. The programme has drawn students from 188 countries, with more than $12 million in funding in 2024, and approximately 37 students are named Pearson Scholars each year.

About the Opportunity

The Lester B. Pearson International Student Scholarship is a four-year undergraduate scholarship for international students at the university. It recognises outstanding academic achievement, creativity, and leadership potential. Scholars beginning their studies in September 2027 receive full support for the duration of the programme. The scholarship is tenable only at the university for first-entry undergraduate programs.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship covers the following for four years:

• Tuition
• Books
• Incidental fees
• Full residence support

Eligibility Criteria

• International students who are non-Canadians requiring a study permit.
• Students enrolled in the final year of senior secondary school in 2026/2027, or those who have graduated no earlier than June 2026.
• Students beginning studies at the university in September 2027.
• Students already attending post-secondary studies, or beginning post-secondary studies in January 2027 at the University of Toronto or another institution, are not eligible.

Application Procedure

The application process takes place in three steps:

High School Nomination

Students must be nominated by their high school, and each school can nominate one student per year. Schools that have previously participated can access the nomination form beginning July 6, 2026. The nomination deadline is October 9, 2026. Schools that have not previously participated can apply to join the programme by noon EST on October 9, 2026.

Apply to the University of Toronto

Applicants must apply to at least one undergraduate programme at the university and begin studies in September 2027. The admission and Pearson Scholarship consideration deadline is October 16, 2026. Applicants can apply to up to three areas on the admission application. If awarded, the scholarship is restricted to the applicant’s top-choice programme at the time scholarship decisions are made.

After being nominated by their school and submitting the U of T admission application, students receive a private link to the Pearson Scholarship application. The scholarship application deadline is November 6, 2026.
