About the Opportunity

The Office of General Counsel is seeking a part-time legal intern for Spring 2027. Under the supervision of a licensed attorney, the intern will gain exposure to the legal work that supports Earthjustice’s nonprofit mission, including compliance, contract review and litigation.

Mode

The position is remote and open to candidates located in the United States. The listing also states that the successful candidate may work on a hybrid schedule from Earthjustice’s San Francisco, California or Washington, DC office.

Duration & Commitment

Interns must commit to at least 15 hours per week for 12 weeks during Spring 2027.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must be enrolled in law school as a 2L or 3L during Spring 2027.
• Excellent writing, research, analytical and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with legal research tools, including Westlaw.
• A strong work ethic, initiative and the ability to think creatively.
• Ability to work collegially with others and independently.
• An interest in public interest law and social justice.
• Knowledge of environmental and administrative law is a plus.

Roles & Responsibilities

Nonprofit Legal Work

Working under a licensed attorney, the intern will receive exposure to any and all aspects of Earthjustice’s nonprofit legal work. The role may involve compliance matters, contract review, litigation and related legal research and analysis.

Mission-Focused Practice

The internship provides an opportunity to support a public-interest organization working on environmental issues, social justice and the protection of communities and natural resources.
