About Burnished Law Journal
Burnished Law Journal is a student-led legal publication. It provides opportunities for students to engage with legal research, academic writing, legal developments and digital legal communication. Its editorial, research and digital initiatives give contributors exposure to the working processes of a legal publication.
About the Opportunity
The Journal is offering a remote legal internship across two roles: Social Media Intern and Research Intern. Applicants may choose the position that matches their interests and skills. The social media internship centres on communicating legal developments and Journal initiatives online, while the legal research internship involves research, editorial support and verification of sources.
Number of Positions
- Social Media Intern: five positions.
- Research Intern: five positions.
Mode and Duration
The internship is remote and open to students anywhere in India. It will run for six weeks, with a possible extension up to 12 weeks depending on performance, requirements and mutual agreement. Work timings are flexible, subject to assigned responsibilities, deadlines and Journal activities.
Stipend
This is an unpaid internship. No stipend will be provided.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students currently enrolled in a law college or university in India may apply, regardless of their year of study.
- Applicants should be interested in legal research, legal writing, social media or academic publishing, according to their preferred role.
- Prior professional experience is not required.
Roles & Responsibilities
Social Media Intern
Social media interns will help plan and execute content on legal developments, articles, opportunities and Journal initiatives. They will assist with campaigns, digital outreach, content calendars and audience engagement, and contribute ideas for the Journal’s online presence.
Research Intern
Research interns will examine assigned legal topics, including recent judgments, legislation, legal developments and academic issues. They will help prepare research-based content, support editorial and publication-related research, and assist with fact-checking and source verification.
Benefits
Successful completion of the internship carries a Certificate of Internship. A Letter of Recommendation may be provided based on performance and contribution. The Journal also lists networking opportunities and practical exposure to research, publishing, editorial work and digital legal communication.
