NEF Law College, Guwahati, was established in 2006 and is committed to legal education, academic excellence and holistic development. The college regularly organises national academic events, seminars and competitions to encourage critical thinking and articulate discourse among law students across India.
About the Competition
The Debate Committee of NEF Law College is organising the 1st Principal H. Munir Memorial National Debate Competition in honour of Late Prof. H. Munir, the founding trustee of NEF Trust, which established several educational institutions, including NEF Law College.
The national debate competition aims to bring together students from law schools and universities across India to debate contemporary socio-legal and constitutional issues. It will follow a parliamentary debate format, including preliminary rounds followed by the quarter-finals, semi-finals and grand finale, and will be conducted in English, Assamese and Hindi. Each team shall consist of two speakers: one speaking for the motion and one against it.
Motion
In the opinion of the House, “Use of artificial intelligence in warfare is an essential need in upholding national security in the contemporary world.”
Prizes and Awards
- Best Team: Rs. 25,000 + Trophy.
- Second Best Team: Rs. 20,000 + Trophy.
- Best Debater: Rs. 15,000 + Trophy.
- Second Best Debater: Rs. 10,000 + Trophy.
- Third Best Debater: Rs. 5,000 + Trophy.
- All Participants: Certificate of Participation.

The competition will be held at the Seminar Hall, NEF Law College, G.M.C.H. Road, Ananda Nagar, Christianbasti, Guwahati – 781005, Assam.
