About the Organiser

The National Blog Writing Competition 2026 is organised by the NLIU-DPIIT IPR Chair, National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal. Established in 1997, NLIU Bhopal is a premier institution for legal education and research in India, recognised by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India.

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has established the Intellectual Property Rights Chair at NLIU Bhopal under the Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education and Academia. The Chair promotes IPR education, research and outreach and seeks to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

About the Competition

The First Edition of the National Blog Writing Competition 2026 invites participants to critically examine contemporary issues in intellectual property law. The competition seeks to promote critical research, innovative thinking, originality and engagement with emerging IPR issues, and provides opportunities for publication, recognition, cash prizes and internships.

Submission Guidelines

• The submission must be between 1,000 and 2,500 words, inclusive of footnotes.
• The manuscript must be highly analytical and arrive at a definite conclusion on the subject matter.
• The submission must be original, unpublished and must not have been previously published or be under consideration elsewhere.
• Plagiarism in any form will result in immediate rejection. Plagiarism below 10% is permitted.
• Citations must conform to OSCOLA, 4th Edition. Only footnotes may be used; substantive footnoting is not permitted.
• Strict adherence to the prescribed word limit is advised.

Publication Ethics

All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism, and submissions must contain 0% AI-generated content, being entirely original and written by the participant. Authors must ensure the accuracy and integrity of their data, disclose potential conflicts of interest, provide appropriate authorship credit and acknowledge individuals or organisations that supported the research.

Prizes

• First Prize: Rs. 5,000 and a Certificate of Participation.
• Second Prize: Rs. 3,000 and a Certificate of Participation.
• Third Prize: Rs. 1,000 and a Certificate of Participation.
• All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

Registration Fee

The registration fee for a single author is Rs. 300. Registration must be completed through the prescribed registration form and will be considered valid only upon payment of the prescribed fee.

• Submission deadline: October 18, 2026, 11:59 PM.
• Declaration of results: Last week of November 2026.
