The National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL Ranchi) is a National Law University established under the NUSRL Act, 2010, and based in Ranchi. The university hosts a Chair on Consumer Research and Policy and maintains a focus on research in contemporary areas of law and policy.

About the Call

The call for chapters invites original and unpublished contributions for an edited volume titled “The Weight of Choice: Consumers, Competition and the Contours of Protection”. Selected papers will be published as chapters in an accredited book bearing an ISBN.

Submission and publication are entirely free of cost, and each author will receive one complimentary copy of the published volume.

Eligibility

• Academicians and faculty members.
• Legal practitioners and policy professionals.
• Research scholars and doctoral candidates.
• Undergraduate and postgraduate students from recognised universities and institutions.
• Interdisciplinary contributions from law, economics, public policy, business and technology are encouraged, provided they engage with consumer protection, market regulation or consumer rights.

Themes and Sub-Themes

• Jurisdictional Overlap Between the CCPA and the CCI.
• Greenwashing and the Limits of Consumer Trust.
• Vulnerable Consumers: Protection Beyond the Default Adult.
• Gig Workers as Consumers, Not Just Labour.
• Consumer Law Beyond E-Commerce.
• Class Actions and the Underused Section 35(1)(c).
• Authors may also propose other topics that reasonably fall within the ambit of the themes and sub-themes.

Submission Categories and Word Limits

• Articles: 5,000–6,000 words.
• Short Articles: 2,500–4,000 words.
• Legislative Comments: 1,500–2,500 words.
• Book Reviews: 1,000–2,500 words.
• Word limits are inclusive of footnotes.

Submission Guidelines

• Submissions must be original, unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
• Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).
• Citation Style: Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st Edition).
• A maximum of two authors is permitted per submission.
• All submissions will undergo a blind peer review process.
• A separate cover page containing the author(s)’ name, institutional affiliation/designation, contact email and phone number must be submitted separately from the manuscript.

• Last Date for Paper Submission: November 15, 2026.
• First Phase of Acceptance of Chapter: December 1, 2026.
• Editorial Feedback Communication: December 25, 2026.
• Release of Book Name: January 1, 2027.
• Final Acceptance: January 5, 2027.
• Publication: February–March 2027.
