About SGT University
Established in 2002, SGT University is a UGC-recognised institution in Gurugram and is accredited with an NAAC A+ grade. Its School of Law combines academic legal education with practical training. The Moot Court Society of the School of Law is a student-run body that develops courtroom advocacy, legal research and drafting skills.
About the Competition
The Moot Court Society, School of Law, SGT University is organising LOKMANTRA – the 10th SGTU Moot Court Competition, 2026. The national competition will give law students an opportunity to develop advocacy, research and analytical skills while arguing constitutional and legal issues. The competition will be conducted offline at the SGT University campus.
Eligibility Criteria
- Students pursuing a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. degree course from a recognised university or institution in India may participate.
- More than one team may register from the same institution.
- Participants must be bona fide, full-time undergraduate law students and may be required to produce valid institutional identification.
- The competition will include a memorial round and knockout oral rounds.
- The oral rounds may include preliminary rounds, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.
- A Researcher’s Test may be conducted to determine the Best Researcher.
- The oral rounds will be conducted in English and participants must follow courtroom formals.
- Each team must prepare one memorial for each party to the dispute as directed in the competition rules.
- With accommodation: ₹5,000 per team.
- Without accommodation: ₹3,000 per team.
- Winner: ₹51,000 and a trophy.
- Runner-up: ₹31,000 and a trophy.
- Best Memorial: ₹11,000.
- Best Speaker: ₹11,000.
- Best Researcher: ₹11,000.
- Top performers may receive internship opportunities with partner law firms and organisations.

- Last date to seek clarifications: October 7, 2026.
- Release of clarifications: October 10, 2026.
- Last date for memorial soft-copy submission: October 17, 2026.
- Memorial hard-copy submission and inaugural ceremony: October 22, 2026.
- Competition dates: October 22–24, 2026.
Team Composition
Each team may consist of three members, comprising two speakers and one researcher, or two members who will participate as speakers. A team may participate without a designated researcher, subject to the competition rules.
Theme
The theme is Constitutional Governance, Civil Liberties & Digital Rights. The moot proposition addresses a compromised national entrance examination, public protests, fundamental rights under Articles 14 and 21, internet shutdowns, censorship and the limits of state power.

Application Procedure
Interested teams should complete the online registration form and pay the applicable registration fee through the official payment scanner or gateway. Teams should review the official proposition, rules and brochure before registering.
Registration closes on October 5, 2026. The competition will be held from October 22 to October 24, 2026.
