The Centre for Tribal and Cultural Studies (CTCS), HPNLU Shimla, has opened submissions for its National Article Writing Competition, with prizes worth more than ₹23,000.

About the Centre for Tribal and Cultural Studies (CTCS)

The Centre for Tribal and Cultural Studies (CTCS) is a centre at the Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla. The Centre is organising the National Article Writing Competition to encourage critical and interdisciplinary engagement with issues concerning tribal rights, culture, and governance in India.

About the Opportunity

The National Article Writing Competition by CTCS, HPNLU Shimla will be conducted online and is open to students, researchers, and scholars nationally.

Themes

Participants may submit articles on any one of the following themes:

  • Tribal Traditional Knowledge and Intellectual Property Rights: Protection, Ownership, and Benefit Sharing.
  • Tribal Displacement and Development: Reconciling Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation, and Community Rights.
  • Tribal Autonomy and Self-Governance: Reimagining the Fifth and Sixth Schedules in Contemporary India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The competition is open to all.
  • Individual participation and co-authorship are permitted.
  • Each submission may have a maximum of two authors.

Submission Guidelines

Articles must be between 1,200 and 1,500 words and must follow the Chicago Footnote citation style. Detailed guidelines regarding formatting, anonymity, and submission procedures are provided in the brochure.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is ₹350 for single authorship and ₹500 for co-authorship.

Prizes

  • First Prize: ₹11,000.
  • Second Prize: ₹7,000.
  • Third Prize: ₹5,000.
