Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is conducting the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Combined Competitive Examination-2026 for recruitment to various posts in different departments of the Government of Himachal Pradesh.
About the Opportunity
HPPSC has invited Online Recruitment Applications for the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Combined Competitive Examination-2026.
The recruitment includes posts such as Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service, Block Development Officer, District Controller, District Treasury Officer and Tehsildar. Candidates will be allotted services or posts based on their final merit and preferences.
Number of Positions
A total of 22 vacancies are notified across the listed posts:
- 4 posts of Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service.
- 10 posts of Block Development Officer.
- 1 post of District Controller.
- 1 post of District Treasury Officer.
- 6 posts of Tehsildar.
Salary
The pay scales notified for the posts are:
- HP Administrative Service: Pay Band Level 18, ₹56,100–₹1,77,500.
- Block Development Officer: Pay Band Level 17, ₹53,600–₹1,70,100.
- District Controller: Pay Band Level 16, ₹48,700–₹1,54,300.
- District Treasury Officer: Pay Band Level 16, ₹48,700–₹1,54,300.
- Tehsildar: Pay Band Level 13, ₹46,000–₹1,46,500.
Deadline
The closing date for submission of the Online Recruitment Application and payment of the examination fee is September 22, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must be citizens of India.
- Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
- Candidates must have attained 21 years of age and must not have attained 35 years as on January 1, 2026, subject to applicable age relaxations.
- Candidates claiming reserved-category benefits must satisfy the applicable Himachal Pradesh requirements.
Roles & Responsibilities
Administrative Services
Selected candidates will be appointed to the services or posts for which they are allotted based on their final merit and expressed preferences.
Examination Process
The selection process consists of:
- Screening/Preliminary Examination.
- Main Examination.
- Personality Test.
The Preliminary Examination consists of General Studies and Aptitude Test papers, each carrying 200 marks. The Aptitude Test is qualifying with a minimum requirement of 33%.
The Main Examination consists of compulsory papers in English, Hindi, Essay and General Studies, along with two papers relating to one optional subject. Law is among the optional subjects available to candidates.
The final ranking is determined on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Examination and Personality Test.

Application Procedure
Interested candidates may apply through the following:
Candidates must submit their applications online through the HPPSC website and create or access their One Time Registration profile before applying for the advertised posts. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.
The examination fee is ₹600 for all candidates. The fee must be paid online through the prescribed payment modes on or before the closing date.
Candidates must upload the prescribed documents, including proof of age, bachelor’s degree certificates and marksheets, and applicable category certificates.
