About Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science

Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS), Lucknow is a government institution focused on legal, forensic and interdisciplinary education. It is affiliated with the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), Gandhinagar, and functions under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

About the Opportunity

The 1st UPSIFS National Moot Court Competition 2026 is being organised by the Moot Court Committee, School of Law, Forensic Justice & Policy Studies, UPSIFS.

The competition aims to provide law students with a platform to develop legal research, memorial drafting and oral advocacy skills, while encouraging critical thinking, legal discourse and practical exposure to courtroom argumentation.

The competition will be conducted in two phases. The preliminary rounds will be held online, followed by the Researcher’s Test, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final rounds offline at UPSIFS, Lucknow.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students enrolled in a three-year LL.B. programme are eligible.
  • Students enrolled in a five-year integrated law programme are eligible.
  • Multiple teams from the same institution are permitted, subject to submission of the prescribed No Objection Certificate.
  • Students enrolled exclusively in postgraduate or diploma programmes are not eligible.
  • Each team must consist of two or three members.
  • A three-member team must comprise two Speakers and one Researcher.
  • A two-member team must comprise two Speakers, with one Speaker also acting as Researcher.

Mode & Location

The Preliminary Rounds will be conducted online through Microsoft Teams on October 15–16, 2026.

The Researcher’s Test, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals and Final will be conducted offline at Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science, Lucknow, on October 30–31, 2026.

The offline rounds will be held at Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science, Aurawan, P.O. Banthra, Lucknow – 226401, Uttar Pradesh.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is β‚Ή3,000 per team and covers participation in the Online Preliminary Rounds.

Registration is completed through the prescribed registration form, followed by payment of the registration fee through bank transfer. The registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.

After successful registration and payment verification, the Primary Contact Person will receive a confirmation email containing the Team Code for official communication throughout the competition.
