The International Criminal Court is inviting applications for a six-month full-time internship with the Immediate Office of the Registrar in The Hague.
About the International Criminal Court
The International Criminal Court (ICC) investigates and, where warranted, tries individuals charged with genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and crimes of aggression. The Court seeks to combat impunity through international criminal justice and accountability.
The internship is offered within the Immediate Office of the Registrar (IOR), which supports the Registrar in setting strategic objectives, overseeing inter-organ relations, improving internal communication and developing Court-wide policies.
About the Opportunity
The ICC is offering a six-month full-time internship with the Immediate Office of the Registrar in its Registry in The Hague, Netherlands.
The internship will involve research, drafting, preparation of legal and policy documents, meeting minutes and other assignments supporting the work of the Registrar.
Duration
The internship will be for a period of six months and will be full-time. The exact commencement period is to be agreed upon before the internship begins.

The duty station is The Hague, Netherlands.

Remuneration
The internship is unfunded. The ICC does not provide remuneration or reimbursement of expenses incurred before, during or after the internship. Applicants must be able to support themselves for the entire duration of the internship.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must have a degree or be in the final stages of their studies at a recognised university in political science, law, management, journalism/public information or a related field.
- Candidates are expected to have a very good academic record.
- Applicants must have less than three years of relevant full-time professional experience.
- Practical experience is not an essential prerequisite, although relevant experience may be considered an asset.
- Candidates should be able to adapt to multicultural and multilingual working environments.
- Candidates should possess strong teamwork skills.
- Candidates should have good computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency in either French or English, the working languages of the Court, is required.
- Working knowledge of the other working language is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish is also considered an asset.
Roles & Responsibilities
Background Research
Interns will conduct background research on a wide variety of matters to support the work of the Registrar.
Drafting
Selected interns will assist in drafting minutes of Registry, Hague Working Group, inter-organ and other meetings.
They will also assist in drafting letters, speaking points, speeches and other documents for the Registrar.
Legal and Policy Research
Interns will assist in preparing legal and policy memoranda, reports and analyses on assigned topics.
Content Development
Selected candidates will assist in updating and producing content for the Immediate Office of the Registrarβs intranet site.
General Support
Interns may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the office.

- Two reference letters, including one academic reference.
