The Centre for Family Law (CFL) was established in 2023 at the National Law University, Jodhpur, to promote informed discussions and research in the field of family law. The Centre focuses on contemporary issues such as gender equality, civil rights, marriage equality, and the Uniform Civil Code through academic initiatives and scholarly engagement.
The Centre is organising the first edition of the CFL–NLUJ Essay Writing Competition to encourage critical engagement with issues relating to reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, and evolving family law jurisprudence.
About the Opportunity
The Centre for Family Law, NLU Jodhpur, is inviting submissions for its first Essay Writing Competition on the theme “Reproductive Rights & Bodily Autonomy.” The competition seeks original and analytical essays exploring contemporary legal, social, and ethical issues connected with reproductive choice, bodily integrity, and family law.
Selected essays will undergo a multi-stage review process. Winning entries will receive cash prizes, CaseMine AI Pro subscriptions, publication opportunities, and certificates.

The last date for registration is 24 August 2026.
The last date for essay submission is 10 September 2026.
Remuneration
The competition offers the following prizes:
- First Prize: ₹5,000, Certificate of Achievement, publication in the CFL Blog, and a one-year CaseMine AI Pro subscription.
- Second Prize: ₹3,000, Certificate of Achievement, publication in the CFL Blog, and a one-year CaseMine AI Pro subscription.
- Third Prize: ₹2,000, Certificate of Achievement, publication in the CFL Blog, and a one-year CaseMine AI Pro subscription.
- Certificate of Merit for the remaining Top 10 shortlisted entries.
- Publication opportunities for select high-quality submissions.
- Participation Certificates for eligible participants whose essays complete the review process.
Eligibility Criteria
- Single-author and co-authored submissions (maximum two authors) are permitted.
- Essays must be original and unpublished.
- The manuscript must not disclose the identity of the author(s).
- The similarity index must not exceed 15%.
- Detectable use of generative artificial intelligence tools will lead to disqualification.

Application Procedure
Interested participants may apply through the following:
Complete the registration process by paying the registration fee through the designated payment link and uploading the payment receipt through the registration form. The submission Google Form will be circulated later.
Registration Fee:
- Single Author: ₹300
- Co-authored Submission (maximum two authors): ₹600
Submissions must:
- Be in Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) format.
- Contain 2,500–3,000 words.
- Follow OSCOLA citation style.
- Use Garamond font (12 pt for text and 10 pt for footnotes).
- Maintain anonymity throughout the manuscript.
