The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) is inviting applications for its Internship Programme 2026 for eligible law students across India.
About National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)
The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) was constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 to provide free legal services to the weaker sections of society and to organise Lok Adalats for the amicable settlement of disputes. The Internship Programme aims to acquaint law students with the functioning of NALSA and various specialised areas of legal services while promoting access to justice.
About the Opportunity
NALSA is offering a one-month internship programme for law students pursuing three-year and five-year law courses. The programme provides practical exposure to the functioning of NALSA and other legal services institutions through orientation sessions, field visits, reading assignments, and interaction with legal aid institutions.
Selected interns will gain hands-on exposure to legal services, legal aid mechanisms, Lok Adalats, mediation, and the functioning of various courts and legal institutions.
Duration
The internship will be conducted for one month (four weeks) and will commence on the first day of the respective month.
Mode
The internship will be conducted in physical mode.
Location
The internship will be conducted at the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi, along with field visits to various legal institutions in Delhi.
Working Hours
Interns are required to work from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., six days a week (Monday to Saturday).
Stipend
No stipend or remuneration will be provided during the internship.

Eligibility Criteria
- Students pursuing a three-year LL.B. course from a recognised university, college, or institution.
- Students pursuing a five-year integrated law course from a recognised university, college, or institution.
- Preference will be given to students in the third to fifth year of the five-year integrated law course.
- Preference will also be given to students in the second and third year of the three-year LL.B. course.
Roles & Responsibilities
Legal Research
- Study NALSA schemes, standard operating procedures, modules, statistical reports, and other resource materials.
Field Exposure
- Visit the Delhi State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authorities, Legal Aid Defense Counsel Offices, and National Lok Adalats.
- Observe the functioning of Remand Courts, CAW Cells, DM Offices, and other legal institutions.
- Visit the Supreme Court Mediation Centre, Supreme Court Library, and the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
Professional Development
- Attend the orientation programme.
- Participate in interactions with NALSA officials at the conclusion of the internship.
Perks
- Certificate of Internship upon successful completion of the programme.
- Practical exposure to the functioning of NALSA and legal services institutions.
The internship certificate will be awarded only upon successful completion of the internship with a minimum attendance of 90%. No letter of recommendation will be issued.

- Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume.
- Expression of Interest (one page or shorter explaining interest in the internship and suitability).
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Dean, Head of Department, Internship & Placement Committee, or any other competent authority, mandatorily mentioning the candidate’s course and semester/year.
