The UNESCO Chair for Legal Dimensions of Clean Sports at National Law University Delhi has invited submissions for its National Article Writing Competition on sports law.

The UNESCO Chair for Legal Dimensions of Clean Sports at National Law University Delhi is a pioneering initiative established under the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme. It seeks to advance research, collaboration, and academic engagement in sports law and clean sports across Asian countries by bringing together researchers, academic institutions, and practitioners.

National Law University Delhi is one of India’s leading law schools, known for its academic excellence, legal research, and interdisciplinary approach to legal education. The Chair works towards promoting scholarship on legal and regulatory issues relating to sports governance and clean sports.

About the Opportunity

The UNESCO Chair for Legal Dimensions of Clean Sports, National Law University Delhi, is organising a National Article Writing Competition on the theme “Governing Clean Sport: Ethics and Emerging Challenges.”

The competition aims to encourage academic discussion on contemporary developments in sports law, including anti-doping regulation, athlete rights, sports governance, intellectual property, artificial intelligence in sports, and global sports governance. Participants may write on any topic falling within the broader theme or the suggested sub-themes.

Deadline

The last date for submission is September 20, 2026. Results will be declared on October 15, 2026.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is:

  • ₹300 for a single author.
  • ₹500 for co-authored submissions.

Awards & Recognition

The competition offers the following awards:

  • First Prize: ₹10,000 and Certificate.
  • Second Prize: ₹8,000 and Certificate.
  • Third Prize: ₹5,000 and Certificate.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to undergraduate and postgraduate law students.
  • Early-career researchers, academicians, and lawyers are also eligible.

Submission Guidelines

Participants must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is between 3,000 and 5,000 words, exclusive of footnotes.
  • The abstract must not exceed 200 words.
  • Footnotes must follow OSCOLA 4th Edition.
  • The similarity index (excluding footnotes and bibliography) must remain below 15%.
  • The manuscript must not be under review or accepted for publication elsewhere.
  • The use of AI for any purpose is strictly prohibited.
  • Headings should follow the prescribed formatting structure mentioned in the brochure.

Participants may write on topics including:

  • Anti-doping law and criminalisation under Chapter VIA of the National Anti-Doping Act, 2022.
  • Athlete rights, due process, and natural justice before CAS and domestic tribunals.
  • The National Sports Governance Act, 2025.
  • Intellectual Property Rights in sports, including broadcasting rights, publicity rights, and sponsorship.
  • AI-assisted officiating, performance analytics, e-sports regulation, and NFTs in sports.
  • Comparative and TWAIL perspectives on global sports governance and the Global South.
