About the Opportunity
The Delhi High Court has invited applications for appointment of 13 advocates as Oath Commissioners for the Delhi High Court, New Delhi. The appointment will be made in accordance with guidelines approved by the Full Court.
Oath Commissioners perform an important procedural function within the judicial system by administering affidavits, affirmations, and declarations required in court proceedings. The position provides advocates with institutional recognition and an opportunity to support documentation processes essential to litigation practice.
Selected candidates will be authorised to administer oaths and attest affidavits in matters connected with court filings before the Delhi High Court.
Nature of Work Responsibilities and Exposure
Appointed Oath Commissioners are responsible for administering affirmations and oaths in affidavits filed before the Court and ensuring compliance with procedural requirements governing sworn statements in judicial proceedings.
The role includes verification and attestation of affidavits and declarations submitted by litigants, advocates, and parties during court filings. Oath Commissioners support the authenticity of documentary submissions forming part of pleadings and applications before the Court.
Such responsibilities strengthen familiarity with procedural law requirements and enhance the advocate’s engagement with court documentation systems.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Minimum three years of practice as an advocate as on the last date of submission of application
Applicant should be primarily practising before the Delhi High Court
Applicant must submit an affidavit confirming that he or she has not applied for appointment as an Oath Commissioner in any other court in Delhi except where primarily practising
Preference up to 10 percent may be given to:
Senior citizens
Lady advocates
Advocates who are widowed or divorced
Persons with disabilities
Additional Conditions
Applicants should have an average annual income of not less than ₹24,000 per annum during the preceding two years. In case documentary proof is unavailable, an affidavit may be submitted.
Income criteria shall not apply to persons with disabilities and lady advocates who are divorced, widowed, or single.
