About the Organisers

The DPIIT-IPR Chair at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, established under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, promotes high-quality academic research, policy development, and capacity-building in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

The Chair operates alongside the Centre for Innovation, Research and Facilitation (CIRF), which supports interdisciplinary scholarship, innovation, and legal research. Together, these bodies advance IPR awareness and research across India.

The CNLU-DPIIT-IPR National Moot Court Competition 2026 marks the first edition of a flagship moot designed to engage students in advanced IPR litigation, policy issues, and arguments grounded in contemporary intellectual property jurisprudence.


About the Competition / Opportunity

This national-level moot court competition provides students a platform to test their advocacy skills, engage in written and oral submissions, and participate in multiple rounds—including preliminaries, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals.

The hybrid model ensures broader participation, with initial rounds conducted online and the final rounds held offline at CNLU, Patna. Multiple teams from the same law school are allowed, subject to Rulebook conditions.

Eligibility & Requirements

The competition is open to students enrolled bona fide in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate law programs across recognised law schools, universities, and institutions.

Multiple teams from the same university or its constituent colleges/institutes are permitted under the rules.

Teams must comply with the memorial format, deadlines, and procedural requirements as stated in the Rulebook.
