NLUJ invites submissions on contemporary consumer protection issues.

About the Organiser

The Centre for Consumer Law Research and Practice (CCLRP) at National Law University Jodhpur is an academic research centre dedicated to strengthening scholarship in consumer protection law and dispute resolution mechanisms in India. The Centre actively promotes interdisciplinary engagement with evolving consumer rights issues through academic writing initiatives, policy discussions, and research-based projects that address emerging challenges in digital marketplaces and regulatory compliance environments.

Consumer protection law has undergone rapid transformation due to technological innovation, platform-based commerce, behavioural advertising models, and expanding digital financial ecosystems. Recognising these developments, CCLRP seeks to create structured academic platforms that encourage students to critically examine contemporary regulatory concerns affecting consumers in India and globally.

Through this national essay writing competition, the Centre aims to encourage rigorous legal research on emerging issues in consumer law while fostering analytical engagement with statutory reforms, institutional mechanisms, and evolving jurisprudence under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

About the Competition

The 1st NLUJ–CCLRP National Essay Writing Competition, 2026 is being organised to commemorate World Consumer Rights Day and to promote scholarly engagement with modern consumer protection challenges across digital and physical marketplaces. The competition invites law students to analyse complex legal questions relating to consumer justice, regulatory accountability, and emerging risks arising from technological transformation in commercial environments.

Participants are encouraged to explore how consumer protection law interacts with areas such as data governance, artificial intelligence, behavioural economics, platform regulation, and digital compliance frameworks. The competition provides a valuable opportunity for students to contribute to policy-oriented academic discourse while strengthening research and writing skills in a specialised and increasingly relevant field of law.

By focusing on both doctrinal and contemporary dimensions of consumer protection, the competition aims to generate innovative scholarship addressing the evolving relationship between consumers, regulators, and market institutions.
