NLUJ invites entries for its Consumer Law Essay Competition 2026 with ₹9,000 prizes.

About the Organiser

The Centre for Consumer Law Research and Practice (CCLRP) at National Law University, Jodhpur is a dedicated research centre focusing on advancing scholarship and policy engagement in consumer protection law. The Centre works towards strengthening understanding of consumer rights, dispute redressal mechanisms, and regulatory challenges, particularly in the context of evolving digital markets.

About the Competition

The competition aims to promote research-based legal writing and encourage students to critically engage with contemporary issues in consumer law. With the increasing expansion of digital platforms and online transactions, consumer protection today intersects with areas such as technology, data privacy, and platform regulation.

This initiative seeks to foster analytical thinking and interdisciplinary understanding, enabling participants to explore real-world challenges affecting consumer rights.

Theme

Broad Theme:
“Safe Products, Confident Consumers”

Participants may submit essays on any topic within the scope of the theme. Indicative areas include:

  • Consumer Rights in the Digital Age
  • Dark Patterns in E-Commerce Platforms
  • Data Privacy as a Consumer Right
  • AI-Driven Consumer Harm
  • Misleading Advertisements
  • Greenwashing and its Regulation
  • Consumer Protection in Healthcare
  • Platform Liability in Online Marketplaces
  • Financial Fraud Prevention
  • Future of Consumer Dispute Resolution

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students pursuing a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programme

Registration Fee

  • ₹250 (Single Author)
  • ₹500 (Co-authored)

The fee is non-refundable.

Prizes

  • 1st Prize: ₹4,000 + Certificate
  • 2nd Prize: ₹3,000 + Certificate
  • 3rd Prize: ₹2,000 + Certificate

All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

  • Submission Deadline: 15 April 2026
  • Result Declaration: 30 April 2026
