Chambers of Yogesh Malpani invites applications for a Direct Tax Internship in Mumbai.

About the Organisation

The Chambers of Yogesh Malpani is a litigation-focused practice engaged primarily in matters relating to direct tax advisory and dispute resolution. The chamber regularly appears before appellate and quasi-judicial tax authorities as well as constitutional courts, providing representation and strategic advisory in complex tax disputes.

The practice covers proceedings before forums such as the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP), Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), and the High Court. Work in this domain typically involves statutory interpretation, procedural strategy, drafting of appeals and submissions, and advisory on contentious tax issues affecting individuals and corporate entities.

Interning with a chamber specialising in direct tax litigation provides law students with structured exposure to income tax practice and appellate advocacy. It also offers insight into how tax litigation strategy evolves across multiple adjudicatory levels and how advisory work complements dispute resolution in taxation matters.

This internship is particularly valuable for students seeking to develop expertise in tax litigation and regulatory advisory practice.

About the Internship

The Chambers of Yogesh Malpani is inviting applications for two law interns to assist with direct tax litigation and advisory work. The internship is designed to provide practical exposure to research-intensive assignments and drafting responsibilities connected with appellate proceedings and advisory matters.

Selected interns will work closely with the chamber on matters involving preparation of appeals, petitions, legal submissions, and professional opinions. The internship will also provide opportunities to observe hearings and understand procedural aspects of tax litigation before appellate authorities and courts.

Interns will gain exposure to matters handled before the CIT(A), DRP, ITAT, and High Court. This structured exposure enables candidates to understand how tax disputes progress across different forums and how litigation strategy is developed at each stage.

The internship is particularly suitable for candidates interested in building long-term careers in taxation law and advisory practice.
