About the Organization

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, invites applications for its one-month Internship Programme for law students across India.

NALSA is mandated to provide free legal services to weaker sections of society and to organize Lok Adalats for amicable dispute resolution. This internship aims to acquaint law students with the functioning of legal services institutions and promote access to justice through practical exposure.

Eligibility

  • Students pursuing:
  • Three-Year LL.B., or
  • Five-Year Integrated Law Course
    from any recognized University/College/Institution.

Preference will be given to:

  • 3rd–5th year students of the Five-Year Integrated Law Course
  • 2nd–3rd year students of the Three-Year LL.B. Course

Duration of Internship

  • One month (Four weeks)
  • Internship begins from the 1st day of the month

Application Procedure

Applicants must submit the online application form along with the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume
  • Expression of Interest
    (One page or shorter explaining interest in the internship and suitability)
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the appropriate authority
    (Dean / HOD / Internship & Placement Committee / other competent authority),
    clearly mentioning:
  • Name of the student
  • Course
  • Semester/Year

Application Window:
The form will be accessible two months prior to the preceding month of internship
(e.g., for January 2026 internship, applications can be submitted between
1st September 2025 and 30th November 2025).

📌 Applications must be submitted online only.
No other mode of application will be entertained.

📌 Selection Method: Draw of lots
📌 Decision of the Competent Authority shall be final.

Certificate of Internship

  • Certificate will be awarded only upon successful completion of the internship.
  • Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory.
  • No Letter of Recommendation (LOR) will be issued by NALSA.

Internship Guidelines

  • No stipend, remuneration, TA/DA will be provided.
  • Interns must arrange their own accommodation.
  • Office timings: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Working days: Monday to Saturday (6 days/week)
  • Internship is full-time and physical; interns cannot pursue any other work/course.
  • Interns must carry their own laptops.
  • Local travel to courts and offices may be required.
  • Dress Code: Formal Black & White (as prescribed by Bar Council of Delhi).
  • Strict discipline and professional etiquette must be maintained.
  • Any misconduct may lead to termination of internship.

Internship Schedule & Exposure

  • Orientation on the first day covering NALSA’s objectives and functioning.
  • Access to reading materials including:
  • SOPs
  • Schemes
  • Modules
  • Statistical reports
  • Field visits (approx. 10 days) to:
  • Delhi State Legal Services Authority
  • District Legal Services Authority
  • Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office
  • National Lok Adalat
  • Exposure to:
  • Remand Courts
  • CAW Cells
  • DM Office
  • Visits to:
  • Supreme Court Mediation Centre
  • Supreme Court Library
  • Supreme Court Legal Services Committee
  • Concluding interaction with NALSA team and group photograph.
