The 4th MNLUCS National Client Counselling Competition 2026 will be held on 14th and 15th March 2026 at Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Organised in memory of Senior Advocate Late Shri P.M. Shah, this prestigious national competition invites law students from across India to showcase their client interviewing, counselling, and dispute resolution skills.

This national client counselling competition is designed to simulate real-time law office consultations and enhance practical lawyering abilities.

The 4th MNLUCS National Client Counselling Competition 2026 is hosted by Maharashtra National Law University, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (MNLUCS), established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act, 2014.

MNLUCS commenced operations on 16 March 2017 and is one of the three National Law Universities set up by the State of Maharashtra. The University aims to provide quality legal education and produce well-trained law graduates equipped to serve the Bar, the Bench, and allied professions.

The competition is organised collaboratively by:

  • Centre for Alternate Dispute Resolution (CADR)
  • Centre for International Corporate and Commercial Laws (CICCL)

The event commemorates Pravin Mukutlal Shah, designated as Senior Advocate by the Bombay High Court in 2001, remembered for his professional excellence and contributions to the legal fraternity.

About the 4th MNLUCS National Client Counselling Competition 2026

The 4th MNLUCS National Client Counselling Competition 2026 simulates a professional law office consultation. Each participating team (Counsel 1 and Counsel 2) will interview a client based on a brief memorandum provided prior to the session.

Key Highlights:

  • Theme covers: Cyber Law, Mediation Law, Contract Law, Corporate Law, Arbitration Law, and other relevant codified/uncodified laws.
  • Topic for counselling will be released 24 hours prior to the competition.
  • Client will be allotted on the spot.
  • Evaluation based on listening skills, factual & legal analysis, planning, teamwork, and client relationship building.

The 4th MNLUCS National Client Counselling Competition 2026 will be conducted entirely on campus, offering participants a national-level advocacy platform.

Eligibility & Requirements

The 4th MNLUCS National Client Counselling Competition 2026 is open to students enrolled in three-year and five-year law degree programmes from any recognised University, Law School, or Department.

Team Composition:

  • Two participants per team (Counsel 1 & Counsel 2)
  • Maximum 40 teams (First-Come-First-Serve basis)
  • Registration Fee: ₹7,000 per team (Includes accommodation & food)
  • Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable

Participants must adhere strictly to the competition code of conduct:

  • Official language: English
  • Prescribed formal dress code
  • No disclosure of identity (Team Codes to be used)
  • No scouting or misconduct

Accommodation will be provided from 13th March (6 PM onwards) to 16th March 2026 (10 AM). Food will be provided from Dinner (13th March) to Breakfast (16th March).

  • Winner: Trophy + ₹30,000 + Internship opportunities
  • Runner-Up: Trophy + ₹20,000 + Internship opportunity
  • Best Counsel: Trophy + ₹10,000 + Internship opportunity
