The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has officially invited applications for the first term of the MEA Paid Internship Program 2026. Acting as a “Lighthouse” for students interested in diplomacy and international relations, this internship offers an elite platform for academic analysis of India’s foreign policy and global outreach.
The second edition of this program is designed to ensure gender inclusivity and socio-economic diversity, providing a rare opportunity for students from across India to engage in research-focused scholarship at the Ministry’s headquarters in New Delhi.
About the MEA Internship Program

The MEA Internship is a flagship initiative aimed at bringing the Ministry closer to the youth of the country. By engaging 30 interns per term, the Ministry provides a ringside view of the complex machinery of international diplomacy. Interns will be introduced to the functioning of various divisions, helping them understand the role of the Ministry in assisting Indian citizens and managing global bilateral relations.
The program demands high analytical rigor, as interns are expected to contribute to the strategic and operational initiatives of the Ministry. This experience serves as a robust foundation for those aspiring to join the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) or engage in international policy dialogue.
